Burger Challenge at Coterie and Co.

I walked into Coterie and Co. expecting to indulge in bacon, eggs or some variation thereof.

But no.

Like a siren’s song, the call of the burger can’t be denied. Resistance is futile, even if it IS 7:30 in the morning!

Simple stuff.

Angus beef patty, caramelised onions, Swiss cheese, tomato relish and mustard on a brioche bun. Throw in a side  serve of chips and it can all be yours for $15!

The good?

It’s tasty! REALLY tasty!

A nicely seasoned patty. Most importantly the balance is there between the key ingredients, and the texture of the brioche is just right for use with a burger. So often they are far too delicate, breaking apart or becoming soggy at the first hint of human contact, but this one had a tenacity that held it together nicely, without detracting from the overall experience.

The not so good?

It’s messy.

Not ridiculously so, but enough to require far too much consideration so early in the morning! Much finger sucking ensued, a pastime that should be kept to the twilight hours and the privacy of your own home.

I wasn’t sure what to expect at Coterie and Co.

Their location at the foot of the Vodafone building is ideal for the hundreds of workers in close proximity, but so often with such a location comes a most unappealing  and sterile grab for cash.

Not so at Coterie and Co.

The food was delicious, the service equal parts welcoming and professional, and the décor very cleverly constructed. I can see their outdoor area being very popular come summer time!

There was an element of inconsistency in the coffees we received, but it doesn’t seem to matter so much when there’s a snail on top!

Overall it was a great breakfast among friends. Keep them in mind the next time you’re looking for a breakfast venue!

Details for Coterie and Co.?

You’ll find Coterie and Co at 59-61 Liverpool Street. Keep your eyes peeled for the brightly coloured walkway next to the ANZ bank.

If you want more info (of which there is plenty), drop by their website here – Coterie and Co.

We were obviously there for breakfast, but their menu is broad enough to also make for a great lunch. The fact they’re licenced is a bonus as well (burger and a beer anyone?!).
